Appearance:

A small humpbacked fly – often mistaken for a Fruit Fly but this fly does not have the red eyes of the Fruit Fly

Habits:

Drains, kitchens, bars and food production areas, where hygiene is an issue.

Likely Found:

Jerky, short bursts of running, characteristic to the adult fly, hence the name Scuttle Fly.

Lifecycle:

Very fast breeders – the whole lifecycle can be completed in as little as 14 days (dependant on temperature)

Control Measures:

Locate and eliminate the breeding source – improve hygiene
