MOSQUITO: (Culex spp.)
Size:

12 to 15mm

Appearance:

Slender long-legged insect with forward-pointing, piercing and sucking mouthparts. Wingspan 7-15mm.

Habits:

In pools of stagnant water or in blocked gutters and drains.

Likely Found:

Parasitic – feed on mammalian blood – important vectors of disease.

Lifecycle:

Eggs laid in stagnant water, larvae and pupae develop in water and then hatch to the adult Mosquito. Males live for 5-7 days, Females live for 1 -2 weeks

Control Measures:

Remove breeding sites and treat areas with residual insecticides. Screens on windows and doors. Ultra violet Fly Control units.
